MISSION STATEMENT: To serve our community by identifying needs and pooling charitable dollars to provide meaningful contributions to fund meritorious projects proposed by local charitable organizations.
Here’s how it works:
- Members commit to donating $100 a quarter to a charity chosen at the WWC meetings which occur 4 times a year.
- Any member may submit a charity that wishes to present a proposal.
- Submission of a charity is due two weeks prior to each meeting. The charity must be a 501(c)(3) serving Montgomery County, MD.
- Of those submitted, three charities will be chosen to present at the meeting.
- Those charities will each have five to ten minutes to discuss the project for which they are requesting funds.
- Members will then have an opportunity to ask questions after which members will vote by ballot for the project/charity they wish to fund.
- Members will immediately provide a check for $100 payable to the chosen charity. Members who have not attended the meeting are expected to forward their $100 checks, payable to the chosen charity. So that we can encourage young women to participate, members under 35 years of age will provide a check for $50 each quarter.
- Checks will be delivered to the charity and the charity will report back at the next meeting describing how they plan to or have used the money.
By joining you are making a pledge to participate in The 100 Women Who Care Alliance of Lower Montgomery County. With 100 women contributing $100 each, we can make a huge impact on a local charity. With 200 women, we can double that impact!
If you are not a member, we invite you to join us at our next meeting. And for those who are members, we hope you will bring your friends so that they can see what we are able to do when women join together in this type of effort. For those coming to a meeting to see what we are about, there is no obligation to contribute or commit to joining.
